We think this is a draw. Of course the two websites have different looks but both function basically the same.

Step 2
You can search for the book you want to buy, rent or sell by entering whatever information you have about it in the search box: the ISBN is the most exact search but you can also search by title, author or even keyword i.e. organic chemistry.
We should mention one thing we did appreciate about eCampus.com is that the search box “remembered” searches so we did not have to re-enter previously searched for items.

Buying Textbooks
Our recommendation is to try both sites. We’re talking online shopping here right so if an extra couple minutes can save you $5.00 isn’t that worth it?
In general we find textbooks.com has some titles eCampus doesn’t but 99% of the books you will ever search for will be available at both so check out both to see if there’s a price difference.
One thing that we want to point out though is that textbooks.com offers Guaranteed Cash Back on many of their new textbooks. This is how it works:
“Books purchased between June 1 and November 30 must be received back at our warehouse by December 31 of the same year. Books purchased between December 1 and May 31 must be received back at our warehouse by the following June 30.”
So, in our opinion this is really the best of both worlds. The price after cash back usually works out very similar to what you would pay if you rented it for a semester but this way you have the option of keeping it if you want.

Also, textbooks.com features The Marketplace. This is what really sets textbooks.com apart if you’re interested in used textbooks.
This is basically a database of independent sellers. Just search for books as already described and you will see a Marketplace quote. You can get some great deals on used books here. You do deal directly with the sellers though and not textbooks.com.
Renting Textbooks
This is definitely the route to go if you know you’ll have no use for a book once you have taken the class. You can usually rent titles for anywhere from 1/3 to 2/3 of the price of new textbooks.
Our recommendation here is eCampus.com for the additional flexibility they offer. Textbooks.com only offers rentals for a semester while with eCampus.com you can rent for shorter periods of time like 60 days or 90 days – and save more money.

Our experience has been that eCampus.com will offer you a quote on more titles than textbooks.com but we recommend textbooks.com if at all possible. Why?

To be fair though, eCampus.com offers 20% extra on top of the quote price if you wish to use it as an in-store credit and not paid out as cash. We prefer cash so we are not forced to buy from eCampus just because we have a credit.
